Russ has released a brand new single. Last week, a single titled “SSX Tricky” was released, this song taking its name from the well-known video game of the mid-2000s. The track had a more soulful quality, with Russ introspectively looking back at his childhood and the origins of his music. The track appeared to be of high quality and seemed to be part of a larger album promotion, but the exact date of the album’s release remains unknown. “SSX Tricky” has a more confident tone, whereas “How Long” is more subdued, featuring a beat that is almost lo-fi and an even more low-key delivery.
“How Long” features Russ contemplating a past romance, speculating aloud about how long it will take for her to move on from him. It’s clear he still harbors feelings for her, and this is evident in every aspect of his behaviour. He expresses his house feeling “twice as big” when she is not around and the sense of emptiness that accompanies a breakup. He longs for her return, whoever she is, because on his own, nothing he accomplishes will ever match the teamwork they shared. This track is put together effectively, with certain emotions evident.
